Friend, I opposed the First Step Act from day one.
Even as other Republicans caved, and even fought for, this bill, I warned that it would release violent criminals onto our streets and make our country less safe.
Its supporters said only non-violent, low-level offenders would be released early.
Unfortunately, they were wrong.
Murderers and sex offenders have benefitted from this soft-on-crime bill. And now we know that terrorists have too.
Soft-on-crime policies, like the First Step Act, are making it easier for terrorists who hate America to fund violence and target our communities.
The First Step Act should never have been signed into law. We must repeal it, and we must declare a new war on crime that doesn’t stop until the crime stops.
I promise you, that’s exactly what I’ll continue to fight for.
Only the strong can preserve their freedom, and I’m counting on your support for our mission to make America strong again.
Democrats are trying to weaken our military, indoctrinate our kids, open our borders, and release criminals from jail. To stop the madness, we must fight back.
