In recent elections, our election workers have faced an increase in alarming threats, harassment, and intimidation. From being followed to their cars to receiving menacing phone calls, these essential workers have sometimes been subjected to a level of hostility that goes beyond political disagreements.
We have taken a critical step to protect our election workers. I helped enact a new law making it explicitly illegal to intimidate, harass, or threaten our election officials.
Passage of this law is a crucial milestone in safeguarding the integrity of our elections and ensuring the safety of those who tirelessly work to uphold our democracy. But our work is far from over. Threats to election workers may continue to escalate, as 2024 approaches - fueled by false claims and disinformation surrounding our election system.
We must act now to confront this challenge head-on. By supporting our campaign, you contribute to the resources we need to advocate for stronger protections, raise awareness about ongoing threats, and push back against the spread of false information.
Our first quarterly fundraising deadline since the enactment of the new law is in just days and I need your help to show that we’re fighting back against disinformation. We need to raise another $20,000 before then. Will you please chip in now?
If you've stored your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will process now. |
This law not only protects election workers, but is part of a package that includes automatic voter registration, pre-registration for 16- and 17-year-olds, the option to be put on a permanent absentee balloting list, and more.
Time is of the essence. Please join us in our mission to safeguard our democracy by making a donation before our massive quarterly deadline. Together, we can create a safer and more inclusive electoral process for all.
Thanks, team!
