"Organizations like CSE make that possible for families like ours."

Dear John –

You may already know that we launched the Southern Trans Youth Emergency Project ([link removed]) – our newest regional initiative that provides rapid-response support directly to the families of trans youth who are impacted by anti-transgender healthcare bans in the South. CSE has been preparing for this moment for a long time – and I want to share with you the real impact that these emergency grants are having on families and the difference they make in real people’s lives.

Whatever your reason for choosing to be part of the CSE community, please consider becoming a monthly sustaining donor. ([link removed]) Or, if making a one-time gift is right for you, click here to make a donation. ([link removed]) All gifts will be matched up to $25,000.

CSE has been monitoring anti-trans healthcare bans in states across the South in real time. In the state of Mississippi, we have long worked with amazing grassroots organizations in the state to reach out to folks in the community about their options for continuing care, issuing emergency grants, and helping them find support.

One mother shared:
When Mississippi passed HB1125 and we learned of the extreme cost of care in a neighboring state, we were devastated and weren’t sure where to turn. We knew that NOT getting care for our daughter wasn’t an option, and neither was bankrupting our family.

Thankfully, I participated on a community call with several helpful folks in our state, including representatives for Campaign for Southern Equality. After the bill was passed, CSE reached out with resources and information. They not only helped us find safe, reputable care but helped our family receive a grant that will help cover some of our daughter’s medical costs.

It’s not easy living where we do, and we have considered leaving, but my daughter wants to stay in her school, and near her family and friends. Organizations like CSE make that possible for families like ours. We are grateful to know that there is a community that is here for us. At times like this, we need community more than ever!

Moving to safer states is not an option or a desire for everyone. CSE strives for a South where your zip code does not determine your rights. As we continue to come together in community, your support of the Southern Trans Youth Emergency Project will help us continue to Meet this Moment and support youth in accessing the care they need and deserve, even in the face of cruel oppressive laws.

To support trans youth, your donation of $100, $50, or whatever you’re able to donate can help more families get the access to care they need. ([link removed])
