MSP Adds 46 Troopers and Eight Motor Carrier Officers
graduation
On May 26, eight recruits graduated from the 26th Motor Carrier Officer Recruit School, followed two weeks later by the 143rd Trooper Recruit School, in which 46 trooper recruits graduated and took their oath of office on June 10, officially becoming Michigan State Troopers!
Both recruit schools began in January 2023, when 17 prospective motor carrier officers and 63 prospective troopers reported to the MSP Training Academy in Lansing.
For these schools, the MSP refreshed its training model to capitalize on adult learning and promote wholistic leadership skills like communication and decision-making, while offering recruits more personalized support to succeed.
With the addition of these graduates, the MSP now has 105 motor carrier officers and 1,170 troopers assigned statewide.
We?re actively recruiting for future recruit schools! Learn more about a career with the MSP here. [ [link removed] ]

June is Internet Safety Month
During the month of June, which is Internet Safety Month, the MSP Cyber Section [ [link removed] ] is devoted to raising awareness of internet safety, including the rising issue of sextortion.
Sextortion is a crime in which an individual is coerced or blackmailed into unwanted actions, such as sending money, under the threat of their intimate images being exposed.
If you think you?re a victim of sextortion, remember these important tips:
* Do not to give in to the demands or continue making any payments.
* Cut off all contact with the perpetrator immediately.
* Take a proactive step by blocking the individual and reporting their activities to the social media platform involved.
* Preserve any communication you have had with them, as it may serve as important evidence.
* Strengthen the security of your accounts by changing passwords and considering the use of two-factor authentication.
* Inform police, as they can provide valuable assistance and support.
* Report the incident to the CyberTipline [ [link removed] ].
