Dear Friend,

Over the last two decades, partners like you have joined me in making National Urban League’s mission of enabling Black Americans to secure economic self-reliance, parity, power, and civil rights possible. We have had countless, tangible successes.

While I am proud of reaching this 20th anniversary milestone, I am more concerned with the legacy that we will carry forward together. I am concerned about the here, the now, and the future.

I am concerned about Black Americans like Tamara who, like so many others that look like her, did not have access to the capital or opportunities she needed to reach economic self-reliance.

Tamara is a true creative. She was excited to attend the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. However, she had to return home to help her mother who was sadly diagnosed with breast cancer.  Despite her circumstance, she started an at-home business creating vintage buttons, upscaling it to designing custom blue jean jackets and other apparel.  She had the drive and talent, but lacked the funds needed to scale her ideas. Instead of taking out high-interest loans, she turned to the National Urban League through our Entrepreneurship Center, which provided valuable insights to kick-start her business.

Over the next decade, the National Urban League – with your help – will accomplish monumental change in our society. We will fight on every level, but we will never lose sight of helping individuals like Tamara.

As I reach this milestone, with my sights set on the future, please join me in renewing your support so that we can fight for true equality in America.
We are entering a pivotal time for our country.  It is more important than ever that we be in touch and work together as a Movement.

Will you make a donation now to help the National Urban League fight for you and your community?

Thank you for celebrating this milestone with me through your gift.

Sincerely,

Marc H. Morial
President and Chief Executive Officer
