Pacific Justice Institute Center for Public Policy staff attorney Emily Mimnaugh had a big win recently when her opposition letter to Nevada State Bill 239 (SB 239) was heeded by the Governor, who vetoed the bill!
From Emily’s letter to the Nevada State Legislature,
“SB 239 would implement a statewide program for assisted suicide which, even if not legally flawed and ethically repugnant, provides few requirements or safeguards... Life-ending drugs can be requested, prescribed, obtained, and taken all on the same day.”
Emily further stated, “SB 239 opens the door for a person to obtain life-ending drugs without an in-person visit, without physician oversight, and without a physician prescription. SB 239 delivers death on-demand without deliberation and without delay.”
Although the bill passed the Nevada State House and State Senate, it was ultimately vetoed by Nevada Governor, Joe Lombardo.
Congratulations to Emily and the faithful supporters like you, for standing behind Emily and the mission of PJI!
