The objective is to provide an innovative approach for first responder organizations to systematically prevent and manage workplace fatigue, by addressing it in a strategic, coordinated approach, and as part of a broad organizational management framework. The intent will be to consider all forms of fatigue including cognitive fatigue, physical fatigue, perceptual fatigue, emotional fatigue, and burnout.

The Guardian
Paramedics were called 200 times in six months to a prison in West Yorkshire to deal with medical incidents linked to drugs like spice, an inspection has revealed.
Of 211 ambulance callouts to HMP Wealstun in the six months prior to the October 2019 inspection, about 95% were related to psychoactive substances, Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Prisons found.

Rafton announced he is now officially the chief of the city’s paramedic service. He attended the city’s committee of a whole meeting Feb. 4 with new deputy chiefs Sara Johnston and Patricia Bromfield.

Following a motion from Mayor Brian Bowman, council agreed to seek full-cost recovery from the province for ambulance services. A report to Winnipeg’s finance committee said the city received $31.4 million with only $300,000 left outstanding.

The crew of an air ambulance who was transferring a patient to an Ottawa hospital was hit with a laser during the helicopter's final approach.
Ornge said one of its crews was hit with a green laser around 10:18 p.m. Saturday during a routine patient transfer.

An incident involving NHL player Jay Bouwmeester last night in a game between the St. Louis Blues and the Anaheim Ducks is highlighting the need for cardiac-emergency preparedness.
Thirty-six-year-old Bouwmeester collapsed while sitting on the bench with 7:50 left in the first period when emergency staff rushed in and administered medical aid. Sportsnet is reporting a defibrillator was used.

It looks like the cost of emergency services in Hastings County, Belleville and Quinte West will take a jump this year.
At its recent meeting, Hastings-Quinte Emergency Services Committee approved a budget of $9.4 million. It showed a 1.4 % hike but with a 24/7 vehicle, and eight new staff it came to a 9.1% increase.
