The Trump administration's changes to the National Environmental Policy Act would rush pipelines, drilling and more through environmental review. Submit a public comment opposing these reckless changes today.

Anonymous,

One of our country's bedrock environmental protections is at risk.

In January, the Trump administration announced a proposal to undermine the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), making it easier for drilling and mining companies to pursue dangerous and dirty projects without even looking at the risks.1

Tell the White House Council on Environmental Quality: Don't weaken NEPA.

NEPA requires federal agencies to assess the environmental impacts before allowing development such as mining, oil drilling and pipeline construction. For 50 years, NEPA has quietly protected some of our most precious, environmentally sensitive places. It helps federal agencies minimize the environmental impact of the projects they oversee, and it allows for the public to weigh in when a project with environmental concerns is under consideration.2

Now, the Trump administration is proposing changes that would undermine NEPA's ability to keep protecting our environment. The proposed changes would remove climate change considerations from that process, and narrow the range of projects that would be required to undergo NEPA review.3

And since the new rules are unclear as to what would qualify a project for review, it's possible that major mining, drilling or other projects could avoid environmental assessments entirely.4

Fortunately, we have the opportunity to speak up against this rollback. Submit your public comment to the White House Council on Environmental Quality today.

Allowing dirty, dangerous and destructive projects such as oil pipelines to sail through without considering the damage they could cause to our environment or climate would be disastrous. Essentially, our government will no longer have to look before it leaps.

In a world already running short on nature, we should be doing more to protect what we have, not making it easier to build over it.

Thank you for standing with us.

Sincerely,

Hannah Collazo
State Director
