I am Al Canata, Vice President of Strategic Partnerships at the National Taxpayers Union (NTU). 

At NTU, we are steadfast in our commitment to championing these principles, defending your financial freedom, and holding our elected representatives accountable. NTU has played a major role in signature taxpayer victories over the past five decades. We helped overhaul the federal tax code under President Reagan in 1986. We championed the cause for a “Taxpayer Bill of Rights” in the late 80s and 90s, culminating in the Taxpayer First Act of 2019. In 2017, NTU was the driving force behind the successful push for comprehensive tax reform, and now we’re working to make the benefits from that law permanent.

The federal budget is out of control. We have reached the statutory debt limit of $31.4 trillion and have nearly exhausted all extraordinary measures to continue funding our responsibilities. Our fiscal trajectory must be changed.
