Friends, two years ago this Friday, my daughter, Jaime, was murdered in the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida. Her killer used a weapon built for the battlefield, but Jaime wasn't an enemy combatant. She was a 14-year-old girl, who loved to dance and had dreams about her future.

I've spent every day since losing Jaime trying to stop the spread of killing machines, because no parent - and no person - should ever have to experience the pain my family has gone through. More than 100 people are shot and killed every day by senseless gun violence, yet, the president is trying to make it easier to get a gun, not harder.

The Trump Administration is trying to allow anyone - domestic abusers, people with mental illness, and truly dangerous criminals - to access blueprints online and then use a 3D-printer in their homes to make "ghost" guns - untraceable, unregistered guns. When I heard about this, I leapt to action, and I thought surely others would, too.

The people who have fought hardest against these "ghost guns" and taken real action to protect our family members, like my Jaime, have been Democratic Attorneys General. Democratic AGs have teamed up across the country in a lawsuit to stop 3D-printed gun specs from release.

I know from my years of doing this painful but ever-important work that with leaders like the Democratic AGs on our side, we can make progress and save lives. That means we have to defend Democratic AGs at the ballot box and elect new Democratic AGs across the country. And campaigns cost money.

Right now, Democratic candidates are not fundraising enough to keep up with Republicans who are deep in the NRA's pocket, and the GOP WILL continue to dominate the conversation on this issue if we don't fight back.

That's why I'm asking for you to join me in the fight against gun violence: Please, make a donation of $1 today - or more, if you can spare it - to help elect Democratic AGs who will actually fight for our families and stand up to the NRA.

Taking on the gun lobby is not for the faint of heart - I know - and it's extremely painful to keep up this fight. But knowing that I can count on Democratic AGs to be in this fight alongside me has been a powerful help. And we need to count on you too.

We cannot afford to let these gun sense champions lose to Republican AGs who will do whatever the gun lobby or Trump Administration says. That's why I'm asking for you to join us in this fight by making sure Democratic AGs can continue their efforts to prevent gun violence:

Please, in honor of everyone lost to gun violence, we're counting on your donation to help in this fight.

Thank you for doing your part. We can't stop until we make sure that the next family will be protected from the heartbreak of losing a loved one to gun violence.
