No to DECRIMINALISATION: Please contact your MP

Dear SPUC supporter,
Last week saw abortion dominating the headlines, after the tragic case of Baby Lily came to light.
To recap, Baby Lily was stillborn at around 32 weeks gestation after her mother Carla Foster obtained and took abortion pills by giving false information to BPAS' telemedicine abortion line. Ms Foster was sentenced to 28 months imprisonment on 12 June 2023.
While most of the public are horrified by the killing of a nearly full term baby, abortion activists are using this case to push their extreme agenda. Within minutes of the sentence being handed down, BPAS launched a campaign website, with a mechanism to contact MPs, calling for decriminalisation of abortion. This is the same BPAS who enthusiastically campaigned for the pills by post policy, where abortion drugs are sent to women in the post to self-administer these drugs with no medical supervision or support. They sent the pills to Carla Foster, with no ultrasound or physical examination, no in person appointment to check on her wellbeing. Now they are using this awful case to campaign to remove abortion from the law entirely.
Pro-abortion MPs are also exploiting this case. Last Thursday, Diana Johnson MP (who has made numerous attempts in the past to decriminalise abortion) asked an Urgent Question in Parliament calling for “reform” in light of this case.
We cannot let abortion activists seize the narrative and exploit this case to remove legal protection from babies like Lily. Please contact your MP now and let them know that abortion should NOT be decriminalised.
We have created an online tool to help you do this. Just input your postcode to bring up who your MP is, edit the template, and press submit. We are not providing a full template email, as it is very important that this message be written in your own words. MPs need to hear the real concerns of their constituents. However, there are resources to help you write your message on the webpage.

We need make it clear to MPs that this tragic case should not be used to remove all protection from unborn babies. Indeed, baby Lily’s death shows that safeguards around the pills by post scheme are entirely inadequate, and it should be scrapped.
Please urgently contact your MP about this case.
With many thanks,
Alithea Williams
