Hello ,
June 19th, 1865 (Juneteenth) is a landmark day in our nation's history. Juneteenth marks the freedom for the last enslaved African-American people in our country. As Union troops marched down to Galveston, Texas, to enforce the Emancipation Proclamation following the Civil War, more than 250,000 Black people were deemed free. Now, the country commemorates Juneteenth as a national holiday, representing the resilience of millions of African-Americans through the plight of slavery. Today, we proudly celebrate Freedom! As congressman, Gerry has made it his personal goal to educate Americans on African-American history by endorsing Juneteenth as a federal holiday. Thus, as the nation remembers the legacy of the millions of Black people on Juneteenth, Gerry will continue to pursue legislative initiatives toward racial equality every day. Happy Juneteenth!
Celebrate Freedom Today!
Thank you,
