John— Today is Juneteenth, the day that commemorates the end of chattel slavery in America. It is also a time to reflect on the progress we have made and the work that still lies ahead.

As we celebrate Juneteenth, we must remember that the fight against racism and for freedom and equality has been ongoing since people of African descent were forcibly brought to North America. The role of Black domestic workers, many of whom are women, in this fight cannot be overstated. They have been the backbone of the civil rights and labor movements, organizing protests and demanding equal treatment under the law.

In solidarity with the unwavering spirit of Black domestic workers, let us commemorate Juneteenth by investing in their leadership and supporting their advocacy.

Throughout history, cleaning homes, caring for children, and supporting the elderly and disabled have been considered Black women's work. Even after emancipation, these workers faced discrimination and were cruelly excluded from labor laws that protected other workers. Sadly, many of those exclusions persist to this day, affecting all domestic workers.

To ensure domestic workers receive the fundamental workplace protections they deserve, it is essential to center the voices and leadership of Black domestic workers. That is precisely why We Dream in Black organizers tirelessly work to support and train Black domestic worker leaders across the country.

By contributing just $25, you can play a vital role in our efforts to uplift and organize Black domestic workers, creating a better future for all. [[link removed]] Your donation will support initiatives such as:

*** The Unbossed Agenda: Black domestic workers are guiding the care movement, and through the Unbossed Agenda, they provide a blueprint for a safer, stronger, and more just country. By chipping in, you demonstrate your belief in the leadership of Black domestic workers and their ability to shape positive change. [link removed]
*** Advocacy for Fair Labor Practices: Our domestic worker leaders tirelessly advocate for fair labor practices, fighting for a living wage and benefits that recognize the essential contributions they make to our society.
*** Voter Mobilization and Empowerment: Black domestic worker leaders engage in critical voter mobilization efforts, particularly in states like Georgia, empowering others in their communities to exercise their rights and make their voices heard.
