John, it's Juneteenth!! ✊✊✊
It's time to raise our voices and celebrate the beauty, strength, and resilience of Black people!
We're all gathering with friends and family and participating in the jubilant festivities and expressing our unyielding support for each other. Let's make this Juneteenth a powerful and uplifting celebration of Black excellence, as we always do!
Just like our lives, our HISTORY matters, including why Juneteenth is rooted in a call for liberation.
This Juneteenth, BLMGNF is reflecting on
Black Joy & Reparations – we are grateful for our ancestors who fought for their freedom, in pursuit of liberation and lives of joy.
Our work today, toward securing reparations for Black people for past and continuing harms, and economic justice that ensures Black communities have collective ownership and self-determination, and everything else in between is a representation that the fight will live on until we are ALL free.
We know that many corporations have benefited from the legacy and continued oppression of Black people, and therefore they must do their part in publicly pushing for reparations.
John, reparations are owed in many forms and manners to be determined by Black people in the U.S. It's on us to raise our voices and demand action immediately. If you agree, sign our petition in the fight for reparations that are long overdue.
Black liberation means building a world free from white supremacy disguised as capitalism. The appropriation of our weekend of freedom by corporations will undoubtedly become an irreversible issue if we don't demand control over our celebrations and ask companies to announce their support of our concrete demands – including reparations.
So, John,
in this pivotal historic moment, let's continue to actively build spaces of Black freedom, spaces where our families and friends can live and learn and grow into all of their infinite possibilities. This is an act of progress. Our vision for all of our people is sustained by our joy and
nobody expresses joy like Black people.
Happy Juneteenth!
In love and solidarity,
