Staunch pro-Trump lawmaker admits that Mar-a-Lago documents are of "grave concern"
After months of defending the disgraced ex-president with pathetic excuses and obnoxious rounds of "whataboutism," Rep. Mike Turner, chair of the House Intelligence Committee, finally acknowledged the severity of Trump's crimes and admitted the classified materials he illegally stored in his golf resort were of "grave concern." Now was that so hard? [RETWEET THAT!]
Take Action: Demand Trump’s passport be taken during his criminal trial!

VIDEO OF THE DAY: Trump’s OWN cabinet member drops nightmare news for Trump on air
Bill Barr, who willingly carried the disgraced ex-president's dirty water as attorney general, lambasted Trump's excuses for stealing classified documents as "absurd" and suggested that more federal charges are likely forthcoming. We can understand Barr’s desire to save face after years enabling the most dangerous president in modern history, but “sorry” would be a better place to start. [RETWEET THAT!]

If we lose Bob Casey, we lose the Senate
Bob Casey for Senate: There is simply no path to keeping our Senate majority without keeping Senator Casey's Pennsylvania seat. Re-electing him and retaining the Senate means we can protect everything that Trump and his cronies want to destroy — abortion rights, voting rights, LGBTQ+ protections, and even the climate. Can you chip in to make sure he wins re-election?
More than 1 million dropped from Medicaid as states start post-pandemic purge of rolls
The great post-pandemic Medicaid purge is in full swing, as nearly 1.5 million people in more than two dozen states — mostly red, mostly Republican — have already lost critical healthcare coverage, despite still being eligible in many cases. Millions more are set to join them in an unfolding bureaucratic disaster that will undoubtedly worsen America's public health and strain our hospital and emergency care resources.
Take Action: Demand Congress pass the Medicare for All Act!
Former Trump defense secretary brands him a security threat
Mark Esper said the painfully obvious part out loud and acknowledged that, should the allegations in the federal indictment against his boss be proven true, Trump clearly cannot be trusted with sensitive information pertaining to the safety and security of the United States. Let's be clear: the man stored boxes of highly classified documents, among other places, next to a toilet in his golf resort. He cannot be trusted with a gym locker padlock combination, let alone state secrets. Enough already.
Take Action: Tell Congress to pass the People over the Pentagon Act!

Multiple mass shootings across the US leave at least 6 dead on holiday weekend
Let's be sure to follow Republicans' lead and continue doing nothing to address the horrific epidemic of gun violence in America. Addressing this crisis with thoughts and prayers is clearly our only path forward.
Take Action: Protect LGBT+ rights and pass the Equality Act!
Evictions are soaring beyond pre-pandemic numbers
As pandemic-era moratoriums have ended nationwide, some cities are seeing eviction filings rise 50 percent higher than before COVID, with — you guessed it — people of color and other marginalized groups at the greatest risk of losing their homes.

What a CONVICTION would mean for Trump's 2024 run
No Lie with Brian Tyler Cohen: Wow.
British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak caught on video mocking trans women
Bigotry knows no bounds — or boundaries — as Sunak made clear in newly leaked video footage shot during a recent gathering of conservative members of British Parliament. Sunak took wholly unnecessary and deeply unfunny pot shots at trans people to the laughter and delight of other partygoers in attendance, needlessly dehumanizing an already marginalized minority.
US, China pledge to stabilize deteriorating ties, resume some high-level talks
The United States and China have pledged to stabilize their badly deteriorated ties during a critical visit to Beijing by Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who met Monday with Chinese President Xi Jinping, but the two nations have yet to resume military-to-military communications, a top US priority.

Today’s Action: Support the Writers Guild of America strike!
The writers of all our favorite TV and streaming shows are STILL on strike, and for very good reason. While the advent of streaming has unleashed a torrent of wonderful, high-quality entertainment, it has proven financially calamitous for writers, who have found themselves working for less and less pay year after year. Adjusted for inflation, writer pay has dropped 14% over the past five years! On top of that, their jobs (and the future quality of our favorite shows) are being threatened by the looming specter of AI-generated content and the hunger of big corporations to cut every single job they possibly can to maximize profits.
The companies' behavior has created a gig economy inside a union work force, and their immovable stance in this negotiation has betrayed a commitment to further devaluing the profession of writing, the Writers Guild of America said in a statement.
CEO compensation last year averaged roughly $32 million at the industry’s 12 major media companies. It's obvious these juggernauts can afford to properly compensate their writers. If they won't, then writers should continue to strike until they receive a fair contract.
Support striking WGA writers by donating your time and/or money! You can write letters of support, donate to the Snacklist (which delivers food and coffee to striking writers), share their demands online using the WGA social media toolkit (#WGAstrong, #WGAstrike), or — if you’re in LA or New York City — join them on the frontlines!
