Friend,
Today is Juneteenth, a day to commemorate the emancipation of enslaved people in the United States. As we remember this historic moment, we must also grapple with the inequity and racism that persists in our country to this very day.
Over the last few years, we’ve seen an increase in racially motivated hate, including discriminatory legislation, police brutality, and gun violence. Republican legislatures across the country have passed laws to make it harder for Black people and people of color to vote and have also passed legislation directly targeting how we teach racism in our schools.
I am committed to supporting our Black communities and finding solutions. If you, like me, want to take action to be a part of the solution, I encourage you to consider making a donation to the NAACP to support their fight for civil rights.
In solidarity,
Susan
