When it comes to picking your pocket, it'll never be enough for these people.

The Hill (2/11/20) reports: "A group of Senate Democrats on Tuesday urged Senate Finance Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) to schedule committee action on energy tax proposals, in an effort to help address climate change...It was signed by more than two dozen Senate Democrats, including Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.).The letter comes after Congress passed 'tax extenders' legislation in December that extended some expired and expiring renewable energy tax breaks. A number of Democrats and renewable energy groups were disappointed that the measure did not also expand renewable energy incentives, such as the electric vehicle tax credit...Grassley said in a statement that Democrats' letter 'rings hollow' because he pressed Democrats last year to help pass a package that extended green energy tax breaks. 'We wouldn’t have a wind energy credit or a biodiesel credit but for me, let alone an extension of either,' Grassley said. 'Democrats were holding up these green energy provisions in an attempt to get a big expansion of taxpayer subsidies for rich Tesla owners.'"

"As President Trump continues to fight for American workers, he should not forget about the economic boom offshore production can deliver. Offshore energy production provides the path forward to a better tomorrow that so many communities need."

Weymouth News (2/5/20) reports: "Residents fighting the construction of a natural-gas compressor station on the banks of the Fore River say they are finally sitting down with regulators to voice their concerns, including that crews working to excavate contaminated fill at the site are allowing hazardous materials to spread. Alice Arena, of the Fore River Residents Against the Compressor Station, said she and several other members will meet Friday with Millie Garcia-Serrano, regional director of the state Department of Environmental Protection’s Southeast office, and other officials to discuss their concerns about ongoing work at the site, including what they see as blatant violations and shortcomings in regulatory oversight. The state is currently evaluating several potential locations for the permanent station and is working with the town of Weymouth to finalize the best site. In the meantime, the state will install a temporary air monitoring station at the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority pump station in the Fore River Basin to start testing as soon as possible. Residents and lawmakers have said the air-quality results collected as part of the permitting process not only show that the basin is a bad location for a compressor station, but also that there are existing air quality concerns. "

Meanwhile, in reality, America's air quality is better than ever because of affordable energy.

Daily Caller (2/12/20) reports: "A Virginia-based GOP group launched a website Wednesday that provides voters information about how their respective states will fare if Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders’s climate policies are put into action. One of the resources featured on the Green New Deal Stats website is an interactive map highlighting what industry leaders believe the so-called Green New Deal (GND) will do to swing states. The America Rising Squared (AR2) website comes as Sanders continues to gain traction in his bid for president....'The Green New Deal is the most radical proposal ever embraced by liberal politicians,' Chris Martin, AR2’s communications director, said in a press statement Wednesday before the group rolled out the website. The group’s map relies on data collected in a 2017 study by the American Petroleum Institute, a U.S. trade association representing the oil and natural gas industry. One February 2019 report from the conservative-leaning American Action Forum suggested the GND could cost up to $93 trillion...Green New Deal Stats shows the GND will put more than 730,600 jobs at risk in California, 322,600 jobs at risk in Pennsylvania, nearly 2 million jobs at risk in Texas and more than 232,000 jobs in peril in Colorado. The map also estimates energy prices will explode if the GND is implemented."

Reuters (2/12/20) reports: "Activist group Extinction Rebellion plans to send mosquito-like swarms of protesters to disrupt financial, accountancy and media firms in London this year to mobilise broader popular support for transformative action against climate change. The goal is to spark a worldwide conversation over how to shift to a low-carbon society in time to avert the most catastrophic impacts, said Gail Bradbrook, a co-founder of the movement, who holds a PhD in molecular biophysics. 'We’ll be like sets of mosquitoes coming into London — the aim is to disrupt the system, not the public,' Bradbrook told Reuters ahead of the publication of an Extinction Rebellion strategy document on Wednesday. Extinction Rebellion, in common with a 'new economics' movement of economists, academics and scientists, argues that a relentless focus on ever-faster economic growth is pushing the world’s ecosystems to breaking point. 'The economic system is acting like a cancer on humanity,' Bradbrook said. 'The regulatory system, the accountants, the legal firms support the metastasizing of this cancer.'"
