Happy Father’s Day, John.
Something that you might not know about me is that I’m a military daughter. My dad was a Naval Flight Officer during the Vietnam War.
Like most, when Dad returned home after risking his life in service to our country, he relied on veterans’ services to get back on his feet and to support our family. It’s a sacred promise we make to our men and women who serve; that when they put their lives on the line in service to our county, we’ll be there to support them when they come home.
That’s why I was appalled to see Republicans playing political games with veterans’ funding during the fight over the debt ceiling. For a Party that talks a big game about supporting the troops, they showed little consideration of the consequences of balancing the budget on the backs of our veterans.
In Congress, I’ll always fight to protect our veterans, and ensure that the promise we made to them will always be honored.
Thanks for reading, and Happy Father’s Day
