Friend: Every woman deserves access to the health care she needs to decide if, when, and under what circumstances to get pregnant and have a child.
Yet that is not the reality for at least 19.5 million women who struggle to make ends meet and live in contraceptive deserts—counties without reasonable access to the full range of contraceptive methods.
And it’s especially untrue for the 1.6 million women in need who live in counties without a single health center that offers the full range of birth control methods. Particularly when you consider that it can cost an average of $500 a year to access birth control.
This is why BCBenefits, our new contraceptive access fund, is so important.
BCBenefits wants to make sure that millions of low-income women have access to the birth control method right for them. We have partnered with women’s health companies to seed BCBenefits, and we want to expand to provide women the financial support they need to pay for transportation, childcare, and lost wages associated with health care appointments, as well as unreimbursed costs for contraceptive services and supplies.
What’s more is that BCBenefits is hosted on Bedsider.org, our reproductive health network that offers information about sexual health and birth control, where to access services, and how to navigate sex, health, and relationships.
But to do this we need your help to make sure that there’s enough money in the fund to cover the demand.
And based on the response we’ve gotten since our soft launch, there’s going to be quite the demand.
Help us fill the fund, Friend. Give what you can today to BCBenefits and Power to Decide and help women access the birth control right for them so that they can live life on their own terms.
Sincerely,
