John,
Good afternoon and welcome to our Weekend
Update.
I want to begin by wishing everyone a
Happy Father’s Day, especially my dad, Stan Meuser. During my career,
I have been fortunate to serve in various roles in the private and
public sectors, but my best role ever is... father. Shelley and I have
three amazing children, Caroline, Jacqueline, and Danny, and I am so
proud of them. Again, to all those great dads out there, have a great
day!
Much of the news focused on the
politically motivated indictment of President Donald Trump. Not nearly
as widely discussed was news detailing the corruption of Joe Biden.
Biden kept classified documents from his time as Senator & VP, and
Hillary destroyed thousands of emails, many containing classified
material, yet they went uncharged. Now, Biden has weaponized the DOJ
against his leading political rival. The double standard is apparent.
I appeared on Newsmax TV’s “Wake Up America” to discuss the
situation. Click
here or below to watch.
Even more alarming is the FBI-generated
1023 document that involves an alleged bribery scheme between
then-Vice President Biden, Hunter Biden and a foreign national. U.S.
Senator Chuck Grassley detailed the FBI's efforts to redact key
elements of the report. Click

The average family of four in my district
is paying $1,143 more monthly to purchase the same goods &
services than they did in January 2021. I joined “Mornings with Maria”
on Fox Business to discuss the difficulties inflation is
still causing American families & small businesses. We must reduce
spending, stop the assault on American energy, and correct course. Click
here or below to watch my interview.
I questioned Treasury Secretary Janet
Yellen at a Financial Services Committee hearing this week. I asked
about a proposed European Union initiative that could significantly
impact American businesses and other issues related to the growth of
the American economy. Click
here to watch my remarks.
The Small Business Committee hosted a
hearing titled “Examining Private and Public Resources Helping Small
Businesses.” I thank our witnesses for their organizations’ efforts to
assist entrepreneurs and provide them with vital resources to help
them succeed. Click
here to watch.
The Biden administration's overbearing regulations are harming
small businesses and hindering growth. Additionally, this
Administration seems determined to weaken the American energy
industry. We cannot sit silently by while the Biden administration
continues to cripple our energy sector and regulate job creators out
of business. We must change course and start working for the American
people, not against them. Click
here or below to watch my comments on the floor of the U.S.
House.
This week, I invited David Molesevich
from the district to attend the congressional baseball game with his
family. While he was in Washington, I introduced him to members of
Congress and then got to sit with Speaker Kevin McCarthy while he had
lunch. David is a big fan of Republican politics.
I met with the Pennsylvania members of
the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB). We discussed
legislative initiatives that would help small businesses thrive, such
as the Main Street Tax Certainty Act, which would make the Small
Business Deduction permanent.
Chairman Roger Williams and I sent
a letter to the Ways and Means Committee highlighting the importance
of incentivizing small business innovation. We must support tax
policies that allow businesses to thrive, and a great place to start
is by making the R&D tax credit and bonus depreciation permanent.

IN NEWS YOU WON’T HEAR IN THE
MAINSTREAM MEDIA: $5 MILLION FOR THE BIG GUY?
According to new
reporting from Fox News, “Joe Biden was allegedly paid $5 million
by an executive of the Ukrainian natural gas firm Burisma Holdings,
where his son Hunter Biden sat on the board, a confidential human
source told the FBI during a June 2020 interview.”
Fox News continues: “The
confidential source said the Burisma executive told him he ‘paid’ the
Bidens in such a manner ‘through so many different bank accounts’ that
investigators would not be able to ‘unravel this for at least 10
years.’ The document then makes reference to ‘the Big Guy…’”
Reminder: Hunter’s former business
partner Tony Bobulinski insisted “the Big Guy” is
a reference to Joe Biden. Watch Rep. Byron Donalds break
down what this means:
This report is in addition to the mountain
of evidence that suggests Biden not only knew about but was
involved in his family’s
influence peddling – including text messages, emails, a voicemail,
visitor’s logs, photographs, and on-the-record accounts.
And what’s Joe Biden’s only response? A
flippant: “Where’s the money?”
The corruption we have witnessed from the
Biden administration is unprecedented and highlights the importance of
electing Republicans. In addition to using the Justice Department to
attack his main political rival, Biden has leaned into a liberal
"woke" agenda that has produced out-of-control spending and record
inflation.
Unfortunately, the mainstream media
continues to attack President Trump. CNN, in particular, has
attacked President Trump and ignored the weaponization of the U.S.
Department of Justice by the Biden administration. Click

from CNN in their place.
On Friday, I was glad to put together a
very informative roundtable discussion with the Chairman of the
Financial Services Committee, Congressman Patrick McHenry. We were
also joined by many great community and business leaders, including my
good friends Bob Asher, Mike Gerber from FS Investments, and Duncan
Campbell with the PA Bankers Association. Together we discussed with
Chairman McHenry our priorities on the Committee and got to hear from
real financial industry leaders on issues their sector is facing. With
knowledge of these issues and the Republicans in control of the House,
we will work to have real results. Thank you to Chairman McHenry for
traveling to Pennsylvania, and a very special thank you to FS
Investments for hosting us.
On a sad note, I want to extend our
heartfelt thoughts and prayers to our brave law enforcement officers
across the Commonwealth and the nation. Yesterday, in Juniata County,
one Pennsylvania State Police trooper was tragically killed in the
line of duty and another gravely injured. Our thoughts and prayers go
out to these brave troopers' families and loved ones.
We look forward to catching up with you
next week. God Bless, and see you soon,
Dan
