Happy Father’s Day to all the dads and grandpas out there, including mine! 🙂
Before Marilyn and I head over to Children’s Mercy for some baby Harvey time, I wanted to send you a quick note about Father’s Day.
When medical bills bankrupted my family growing up, my dad battled every day to provide for and protect us. Like too many Missourians, he sacrificed his American dream to give us kids the chance to have our own — and sadly, not much has changed since then.
While politicians like Josh Hawley obsess over what they think it means to be a man, they completely fail to give this generation of fathers — and mothers, and anyone who works for a living — the support they need to take care of their families and themselves.
The last couple of weeks have been an especially good reminder of that.
We deserve to live in a state where people like you and me can have kids and afford to take care of our families afterwards without the fear of being burdened by medical debt.
We deserve to live in a state where our children can live and thrive for generations — with strong communities, opportunities, and good pay.
And we deserve leaders who will fight to make that happen rather than spending their time writing books about “manhood” and telling everyone else how to live rather than supporting us as we decide for ourselves.
That’s why I’m running for Missouri’s U.S. Senate seat — for a better future for my kids AND for yours.
Thank you so much for being on my team, John. I hope you get to spend some time with your loved ones today.
