Growing up in Los Angeles during the Civil Rights Movement, I saw Americans risk everything for equality -- and witnessed true community activism drive change.

That sparked my lifelong commitment to fighting for social and economic justice -- first as a U.S. congresswoman, and now, as mayor of my hometown. No matter where I went, I knew I wanted to be a part of the solution, and I know my friend Joe Biden shares the same commitment.

It’s why I was proud to join the Biden-Harris campaign’s National Advisory Board last month. And it’s why I’m going to do everything I can to make sure Joe and Kamala serve for four more years in the White House and continue building a better America.

But it'll take all of us coming together to finish the job. So I’m asking:

As the mayor of our country’s second-most populous city, I know that their partnership will be vital to getting our cities moving on homelessness, public safety, affordability, and in ensuring every resident is treated equally and has an equal shot at success.
