Andrew Meets With New York Advocates
Andrew had a great week of meetings in his Washington D.C. office with various advocates and stakeholders from New York, including with the American Council of Engineering Companies of New York or ACEC New York, the New York State Broadcasters Association, the Community Oncology Alliance, the MTA, and others. Andrew believes that it's important to hear directly from members of the community about issues that impact them the most and he appreciates these groups taking the time to talk to him and his staff about their priority issues while in D.C.

This week, Andrew recognized the recipients of the 29th Annual Theodore Roosevelt Association Police Awards. CASEWORK HIGHLIGHT: Caring For Our Veterans
A Babylon resident contacted Andrew's office for help securing VA benefits for his father, a Korean War veteran in his 90s who needed to be moved into a care facility. Six months after his initial application with the VA, he had still not received a response. Andrew's casework immediately reached out to the VA and the veteran was granted aid and attendance back dated to the time of the application.
Andrew knows how frustrating dealing with bureaucracy can be. That is why he has an entire team dedicated to helping constituents get what they need for the federal government. If you need help dealing with a federal agency, contact our office and our team will get to work on your case.

Andrew Introduces Bill To Address Unaccompanied Minor Crisis
| |
This week, Andrew introduced The Protecting UACs Through Enhanced Sponsor Vetting Act of 2023. The legislation would improve screenings for sponsors of unaccompanied alien children (UACs). In a statement Andrew said, "Current law clearly requires the Administration to repatriate unaccompanied children to their last residence or home country. However, Secretary Mayorkas’ has repeatedly stated that they will not expel young children who have crossed the border alone. This failure to enforce the law encourages an increasing number of entries and puts these children in danger by creating a situation where officials are placing them in the custody of hastily vetted sponsors. Once there, they could be forced into child labor, sex trafficking, or transnational gangs like MS-13 on Long Island. The Protecting UACs Through Enhanced Sponsor Vetting Act of 2023 would require more stringent vetting of sponsors so that these kids don't fall victim to gang recruitment schemes which bolster the ranks of criminal enterprises and further endanger migrants and American citizens alike." Andrew Stands Up For Law Enforcement
This week, Andrew spoke on the House Floor in favor of overriding President Biden's veto of legislation blocking D.C.'s anti-police law. In his remarks he said in part, "Congress sent a clear message that enough is enough – we will not stand by while our law enforcement officers are vilified and handcuffed by pro-criminal/ anti-cop legislation. With his veto, President Biden showed his disregard, not only for law enforcement, but also for the American people whose duly elected representatives voted to block this harmful DC legislation." Andrew will always fight to support our men and women in blue. Watch his full speech here.

Andrew Votes To Prevent Ban on Gas stoves
This week, Andrew voted to pass H.R.1640, the Save Our Gas Stoves Act. Biden and extreme Democrats are attempting to ban gas cooking appliances. Banning gas cooking appliances would burden American families with high electricity bills, take away consumer choice, and greatly decrease appliance functionality. Homes with natural gas appliances save up to $1,068 per year compared to all-electric homes.
