Dear John,
This week, we got the latest inflation numbers from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, and once again, the news was good.
Inflation is now down to 4 percent, the lowest in two years, and less than half of last summer’s peak. Meanwhile, unemployment remains at historic lows, and more than 12 million jobs have been created since President Biden came into office.
But to hear the corporate media tell it, a painful recession is around the corner. As a result, 8 in 10 Americans tell pollsters that the economy is bad and getting worse.
The corporate media’s coverage of the economy has been just plain awful, and we must take action to correct the record. If we don’t, it could propel Donald Trump or another Republican into the White House, where they will go right back to the usual economic policies that benefit the superrich over everyone else.
That’s why Inequality Media Civic Action is launching a series of our explainer videos, which are proven effective at breaking down complex economic topics and engaging key voters who aren’t getting the facts they need from the corporate media.

Remember how Republicans and conservative Democrats said that the only way to tame inflation would be to trigger a recession and throw millions of people out of work?
They were wrong, and Joe Biden didn’t listen to them.
Through the bipartisan infrastructure bill, the Inflation Reduction Act, stronger antitrust enforcement, and other policies, President Biden has brought down inflation without driving up unemployment, while helping working Americans get by during the difficult transition after the pandemic.
Today, inflation is falling. Jobs are plentiful. Black and brown workers in particular are benefiting. In fact, the employment gap between Black and white workers is now at its lowest rate in history.
All of this is the direct result of policy choices made by President Biden and other key leaders. But because the corporate media does such a truly awful job at covering the economy, most Americans say the economy is doing badly — and that the economy was better under President Trump than it actually was.
If the economy continues to be voters’ number one issue, it’s vital we educate them about the facts.
No one is better than the talented team of producers, artists, and writers here at Inequality Media Civic Action at persuading undecided voters. We can spread the truth, but we need to start right now. We can’t wait until right before the election, when the noise will be too loud to break through. That’s why we’re asking you to make a donation to help ramp up our messaging operation.
Please make a donation to Inequality Media Civic Action and help us explain how the Biden administration’s economic agenda is succeeding.
Thanks for joining with us in the fight for democracy,
