Today, I had the honor of hearing Dolores Huerta speak about the importance of the 2020 Census. She made it very clear that the current xenophobic and racist administration that is enabled by Senators, including Cory Gardner, have been planning for an undercount since Trump assumed office.

The moment that Trump came down the escalators of Trump Tower and called Mexican immigrants rapists and murders was to instill fear and hate to interfere with the Census.

The separation of families and caging children in cages was to secure an undercount.

The prohibition of asylum seekers from entering the US is to curb the count of the Census.

The effort to add a citizenship question to the Census was to dissuade immigrant and refugee communities from participating in the Census.

The lack of funds dedicated to making sure we have a complete count is to secure an undercount in the US 2020 Census.

We could lose millions of dollars that will go towards programs in Colorado like child care, transportation, and health care if we allow this administration to get away with closeting entire communities.
