John, a new study just found that the Arctic ocean could be ice-free for several months of the year as soon as 2030 — if we don’t take aggressive climate action now.

The Arctic has been warming four times faster than the rest of the world thanks to the onslaught of greenhouse gas emissions, but researchers from Pohang University of Science and Technology in South Korea are speculating this widespread sea-ice melt will hit the Arctic a decade earlier than the UN projected.
Here’s what that means for us: Sea ice essentially acts as a mirror for the sun’s rays and redirects them away from our planet, which is crucial to regulating Earth’s temperature. But because greenhouse gasses have expedited the Arctic's sea ice melt, we're way more vulnerable to the effects of heat from the sun.
However, when we lose this sea ice, we won’t just experience warmer temperatures. Heatwaves, wildfires, and flooding like what we've seen in recent years will only mark the beginning of increasingly extreme weather events — and we'll experience them a lot sooner than scientists previously thought.
That’s why SEEC members aren’t just fighting to cut emissions, but also to help the communities that are most vulnerable to the damage caused by extreme weather.
Our members are fighting for our planet every day in Congress. The risks are just too great to hold back now. Will you donate today to fuel their fight? [[link removed]] [[link removed]]
