In a million years, I never imagined this is how it would end up for me...

When I was a kid sleeping on the floor in the apartment my mother got for us after my father left, you could have given me a million guesses about my future and this would not have been one of them.

At the time, I could honestly say my life sucked and I was not going to stand for that.

I never dreamed I'd run for public office — let alone win a seat in the House of Representatives. That was just unimaginable.

I would have never thought running for U.S. Senate was a possibility, let alone control of the Senate being decided by my race.

It would have been unfathomable to me that hundreds of thousands of people I’ve never met in my life would sign up to support me, let alone contribute their hard-earned money.

And I never thought I’d have to ask people like you to do more than that.
