Alexandra Conservatory reopens: Explore nature's beauty once again

We're thrilled to announce one of Oldham’s biggest treasures has finally reopened after two and a half years of careful restoration.

So why not come along to Alexandra Park’s historic conservatory and discover a magical world of colourful plants and beautiful-smelling flowers, grown by our talented environment team.

The conservatory is open seven days a week between 8am and 3.30pm (Mon-Thu) or 8am and 4pm (Fri-Sun).

Changes coming to Taxi and Private Hire Vehicles in our borough

Attention passengers! We have some exciting news to share with you about the positive changes we're making to support your transportation experiences to become even better when using our taxis and private hire vehicles.

The Council's licensing committee recently made a decision that will give our fleet a fresh new look, so get ready to notice some differences in how the identification plates and operator logos are positioned.

These changes will make it even easier for you to spot and find your ride.

Exciting opportunity: Funding available for Active Travel initiatives in your community

We have great news! The Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) Active Travel Team is offering funding for bike and cycling projects through their grants programme.

Funded by the Department for Transport (DfT) and Active Travel England Capability and Ambition Fund, this offer aims to encourage walking, cycling, and wheeling, reduce urban lorry and van travel, and improve air quality. Here are the details:

• Cargo cycle solutions: Grants of up to £10,000 are available for projects related to cargo cycles.
• Adaptive cycle solutions: Grants of up to £10,000 are available for projects related to adaptive cycles.
• Community projects for cycling, walking, and wheeling: Grants of up to £2,500 are available for community initiatives promoting these activities.

Eligible applicants include small businesses, community organisations, schools, healthcare providers, and GP practices.

You can apply for one or more measures, up to a maximum grant amount of £15,000 and the application deadline is Friday, 21 July.

This is a fantastic opportunity to secure funding for initiatives that encourage active travel, contributing to a healthier and more sustainable community so don't miss out!
