Hello, Friends —
Joe Biden's Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) has been weaponized to ruin the lives of the American people. Every day, countless Northwest Floridians — including many service-disabled veterans — rely on stabilizing braces while exercising their Second Amendment right. Yet through its recent pistol-brace rule, the ATF is attempting to circumvent Congress’ sole legislative authority and turn law-abiding gun owners into criminals for simply attaching a piece of equipment to their firearms.
That's why on Tuesday, I voted YES on Congressman Andrew Clyde's resolution, H.J. Res. 44, which would nullify the Biden administration’s rule reclassifying pistols with stabilizing braces as short-barreled rifles, subjecting them to a requirement for registration with the ATF. I am pleased that the House passed this resolution on a 219-210 vote, sending a message that the people's representatives firmly reject the ATF’s unconstitutional rule and executive overreach. It is crucial that Congress defend Americans' right to keep and bear arms — and now it's time for the Senate to follow suit by passing this resolution.
Additionally, on Thursday, Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna called up on the floor of the House her resolution to censure Congressman Adam Schiff. This resolution, which I co-sponsored, would have formally censured and condemned Rep. Schiff for lies, misrepresentations, and abuse of sensitive information while he was Ranking Member and then Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, which gave rise to the Mueller investigation. The evidence of President Trump's collusion with Russia has since been shown not to exist by reports by the Department of Justice's inspector general and Special Counsel John Durham. The resolution also recommended Rep. Schiff be fined $16 million, half the cost of the Mueller investigation, if the House Ethics Committee found he violated House ethics rules. Unfortunately, 20 Republicans joined Democrats in tabling the resolution because this was included. However, Rep. Luna plans to call up a new censure resolution without it. I look forward to it passing the House!
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING STORMS AND TORNADOES
As of the time of this writing (Friday, 4:00pm) Northwest Florida is currently under a severe thunderstorm watch. Storms in and around Florida's First District may strengthen further as this evening progresses. Tornadoes, extremely high winds, life-threatening storm surges, heavy rain, and flash flooding are all possible.
If you haven’t prepared already, don’t wait a moment longer — the best time to prepare is right now. Stock up on essential supplies: non-perishable food, bottled water, flashlights, batteries, and generators are all useful.
Prepare a kit. Ensure you and your family have a disaster kit ready to go in case of an emergency.
Secure your boats. Talk with your local marina to ensure you have a plan to both bring your boat in and strap it down ashore or otherwise ensure it is properly equipped to ride out the storm at the marina.
Fill your car with gas in advance. If there is an evacuation, traffic is often terribly slow, and gas stations are likely to be sold out.
Most importantly, have a discussion with your friends and your loved ones, to make sure they are prepared, too. Please don't hesitate to talk to your neighbors and family to ensure everyone's safety.
If an evacuation has been ordered or recommended for your area, evacuate. Evacuation orders are never issued lightly. If the storm is less severe than expected, it’s still better be safe than sorry.

CONGRESSMAN GAETZ HOLDS JANUARY 6TH FIELD HEARING
On Tuesday, I held a field hearing on January 6th to expose the TRUTH. The investigations, prosecutions, and targeting of individuals in the aftermath of January 6th have been an assault on unassuming Americans. In addition to witnesses giving testimony at the field hearing, I was joined by other members of Congress.
As part of the House of Representatives' constitutional oversight role, the 118th Congress is investigating the weaponization of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The federal government’s targeting of American patriots, mismanagement of overhyped cases, and unjust prosecutions of January 6th defendants are a case study in this weaponization. Since that day, we have seen unprecedented deviations from standard law enforcement practice, outward political pressure from the FBI Washington Field Office, strong-arm prosecutorial tactics, outsized jail sentences, perjury before Congress, and more. I will continue my fight to expose the facts surrounding the events of that day and the treatment of our fellow Americans by our weaponized government that followed.
REP. GAETZ DEMANDS RECORDS FROM SPECIAL COUNSEL JACK SMITH
On Tuesday, I sent a letter to U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland demanding that the Department of Justice preserve and produce all records from the office of Special Counsel Jack Smith. I am demanding answers on behalf of the American people regarding the highly irregular and extreme targeting of President Donald J. Trump by Special Counsel Jack Smith and his office at the Department of Justice (DOJ). It has been uncovered that one of Mr. Smith’s deputies, Karen Gilbert, made thousands of dollars of donations to “Biden for President,” “Obama for America,” the “DNC Victory Fund,” and “Obama Victory Fund 2012.” The pattern of partisan influence in the Office of Special Counsel Smith is not only of public interest but is highly critical to the ongoing oversight work of Congress.

REP. GAETZ: THEY'RE TARGETING TRUMP BECAUSE HE IS WINNING
The entire prosecution of President Trump has turned out to be a politically fueled witch hunt, and the American people agree. Joe Biden has had confidential and top-secret records in his garage since 1974 — yet he's still stumbling around the Oval Office. The bias that exists within Jack Smith's prosecution team is the exact reason it should be defunded. Our Department of "Justice" has been weaponized against those it was designed to protect.
AROUND THE DISTRICT
REP. GAETZ HOSTS OPEN GAETZ DAY!
Last Friday, I hosted Open Gaetz Day, and it was a tremendous success! I always value connecting with Northwest Floridians, who have entrusted me to be their voice in Congress. I used Open Gaetz Day as a chance to discuss some of the important issues in Florida's First District, listen to members of our community, and provide an update on my fight in the swamp of Washington, D.C.!
I kicked off the day by meeting with Walton County's leaders at Ed’s Restaurant in Defuniak Springs. I met with State Representative Shane Abbott, County Commissioner Tony Anderson, Supervisor of Elections Ryan Messer, Paxton Mayor Ann Sexton, and Economic Development Alliance Executive Director Uriah Matthews and discussed everything from workforce housing needs, to cleaning up the bay, to the lack of adequate health care in the northern two-thirds of the county.
During my second stop, I joined Post Commander Stewart Gandy and local veterans from the American Veterans (AMVETS) Post #178 in DeFuniak Springs for breakfast. It was an honor to meet and connect with the brave men and women who have served our country with unwavering dedication. Their stories and insights only reinforced my commitment to ensure their sacrifices are honored and never forgotten. Thank you to Post Commander Stewart Gandy and his team for great conversation and a hospitable welcome with some great patriots!
The next place I had the privilege of visiting was Crestview Manor. Ginger and I had a blast laughing, chatting, and playing Wii Bowling with all of the residents. We look forward to returning for karaoke night and more Wii Bowling soon!
Later in the afternoon, I had a great time learning about Feeding The Gulf Coast’s mission and touring their facility in Milton. I’m incredibly impressed with what they've been able to accomplish in their efforts to provide nutritional support to nonprofit and faith-based organizations to fight hunger across Northwest Florida. I am grateful for their fantastic work within our community.
At my final stop at Scott’s Outdoors in Jay, I gave a legislative update about the work that's happening in Washington, D.C., and Florida's First Congressional District. It's my duty as a member of Congress to keep my constituents informed. During the event, I discussed the unprecedented indictment of President Trump, explained my push for spending cuts, and answered questions from members of our community. I can't wait until the next legislative update!
Lastly, I want to personally thank everyone who attended Open Gaetz Day and contributed to its success. I couldn't have hosted such an amazing and impactful event without the help of countless members of our community. All in all, it was an enriching day filled with extremely productive engagements and constructive dialogues. I will carry these invaluable insights and experiences with me, remain committed to serving the people of Florida's First District, and always put America First!

Gaetz grills DOJ over Trump prosecutor's donations to Biden, alleged misconduct
"'While there are innumerable valid legislative purposes for this request, it should be obvious that doing due diligence in vetting an office that has apparently done no vetting of its own personnel, or worse, might affirmatively be seeking to staff with sanctioned lawyers and partisan hatchet-men (and women), is an entirely appropriate purpose and one small reason I am requesting this information,' Gaetz wrote."
