I am appalled. President Trump’s new $4.8 trillion budget proposal would slash billions of dollars in essential funding for programs that millions of Americans and hundreds of thousands of Montanans rely on, like Medicaid, Social Security and SNAP.
This budget takes square aim at Montanans, rural Americans, and hard working families across the country. If Steve Daines and the Republicans in Congress act on this proposal, it will decimate the Land and Water Conservation Fund by 97%, severely impact Medicare and access to rural health care, and slash farm assistance programs.

This budget proposal is yet another reminder of why it’s so important to win this race in Montana and take back the Senate. Our GOP Senator Steve Daines should be standing up and fighting this assault on Montana families -- but he’s too busy serving corporate interests to look out for his constituents.
When I am fighting for Montanans and Americans in the U.S. Senate, I won’t allow this to go unchallenged. Unlike Steve Daines, I will always fight back when D.C. politicians try to slash these programs that support our families. That is the kind of real leadership that Montanans need and deserve.
Steve Daines has a decision to make: will he once again play the Washington games that hurt our families, public lands, and future or will he stand up and do what’s right? Sadly, we already know the answer. That’s why it’s critical that we defeat him and send a real champion for Montana to the Senate.
