A 2022 survey showed that merely 18% of Americans have a great deal of confidence in the supreme court – the lowest in half a century.

It comes at no surprise. The highest court in the land is the only court in the country without a code of ethics. Conservatives stacked it with hyper-partisan extremists who prioritize their right-wing ideology over the good of the nation. Americans have had enough of absurdly divisive rulings that overturn long-held precedent, and the seemingly endless list of conflicts of interest and scandals.

Jack, the Supreme Court is supposed to be the last line of defense against attacks on our fundamental freedoms and constitutional rights.

Instead, right-wing extremists have used it to inflict their deeply unpopular agenda on the rest of us. Meanwhile, the list of ethics scandals surrounding the same conservative justices voting to strip our freedoms seems to grow by the week. This extremist bench has shown that it is not interested in advancing equal justice under the law. It’s time to rebalance the Supreme Court to create one that is.
