Dear
Reader,
We are a hearty lot, you and I. We do not readily play the victim or jump to take offense.
Yet the past few years have been profoundly disheartening to people of faith. Who will defend us and bear the costs? Whom can we trust?
As other ostensibly religious publications have shrunk back under the withering heat of a hostile culture, FIRST THINGS has stood taller.
As other institutions have cozied up to the great and the good, FIRST THINGS has taken up the standard for religious orthodoxy.
The 2023 FIRST THINGS Spring Campaign aims to raise $500,000 from eight hundred readers like you by June 30.
Today, I ask you to take up the standard for religious orthodoxy with FIRST THINGS by making your first charitable gift in support of our work.
Will you take your stand on behalf of religious truth by making a Spring Campaign contribution? ([link removed])

As a reader of FIRST THINGS, you know that we passionately, forcefully advance religious truth in the public square, equipping the faithful to meet the challenges of life in our hostile culture.
And we have borne the very real costs for doing so, not least in the last few months when we staved off two cancellation attempts.
FIRST THINGS is defending people of faith and bearing the costs. For you and thousands of your fellow readers, FIRST THINGS is an institution you can trust.
Today, I ask you to take your stand with us by making a Spring Campaign gift ([link removed]) .
Reader,
XXX readers like you have already given $XXX,XXX toward our $500,000 campaign goal.
Your gift is urgently needed to meet this goal . . . to amplify the voice of FIRST THINGS as we, together, bear the standard for the truth of religious orthodoxy.
Make your first charitable gift to FIRST THINGS today!
