HB 1227
Closing the Smokers Lounge & Creating Child-Friendly Space
This bill requires the joint committee on legislative facilities to renovate the smoker's lounge in the basement of the legislative office building to be a child-friendly room.
YDC Sponsors: Representatives Samantha Fox, Jackie Chretien, Matt Wilhelm, & Tim Josephson
Public Hearing: Thursday 2/13 10am House Legislative Admin Committee, Legislative Office Building Room 303
Why Support this bill?
- There is a friendly space for smokers in the legislative building, but no child friendly space for kids
- NH has a citizen legislature, and should accommodate working families who are participating, from Representatives to those providing testimony
- Regardless of what ends up happening with the smoking lounge space, we need to speak up for all the young parents who are serving or working in the State House and advocate for a safe, clean space for children.
