This week, the House of Representatives advanced an important pro-Israel initiative supported by AIPAC.
On Tuesday, the House voted overwhelmingly—413 to 13—to pass the Special Envoy for the Abraham Accords Act, creating a new position at the State Department dedicated to strengthening the Abraham Accords.
Building on Israel’s relationships with the Arab world through the Abraham Accords is essential for bolstering Israel’s security and promoting stability in the region. This new ambassador-level role will ensure the United States remains focused on expanding the Accords.
Reps. Ritchie Torres (D-NY) and Mike Lawler (R-NY), who led this effort, both thanked AIPAC for our support for this important bipartisan legislation.
Achievements like this do not just happen on their own. Your activism on behalf of the U.S.-Israel relationship, and your continued support for AIPAC, made this possible.
As we look to continue the momentum on Capitol Hill, I encourage you to visit the AIPAC Policy Blitz website and urge your members of Congress to support additional pro-Israel policies.
Germany is planning to buy Israel's advanced Arrow-3 missile defense system in a more than $4 billion purchase. Israel is a world leader in missile defense technology, fielding some of the most battle-tested systems in the world, and is an invaluable partner for nations seeking comprehensive aerial defense systems.
Iran Helps Build Drone Factory in Russia
Iran is providing materials and support for a drone factory being built by Russia east of Moscow, which will provide Russia’s military with its own domestically produced source of attack drones. This is the latest step in the ever-deepening military and strategic cooperation between Iran and Russia, which threatens America, Israel and our other allies around the world.
Abbas Visits China
Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas met this week with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing, a sign of China's growing influence in the Middle East and efforts to undermine America's position in the region. This visit comes as China has also increased its military partnerships with Iran and Russia.
J Street Endorsees Vote Against the Abraham Accords
When there is a pro-Israel vote in Congress, you can find J Street’s endorsees voting against it. On Tuesday, J Street endorsees voted NO on bipartisan legislation promoting the Abraham Accords.
J Street is many things, but it's not pro-Israel.
The mission of AIPAC is to encourage and persuade the U.S. government to enact specific policies that create a strong, enduring and mutually beneficial relationship with our ally Israel.
