Team,
As a member of Congress and a public servant, it's my job to protect the programs that are vital to the well-being of millions of Americans and countless people in Washington.
But — after the recent debt ceiling negotiations, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy openly declared the debt limit legislation was only "the first step" toward his party's broader agenda. If he has his way, our country could see cuts to Social Security, which would jeopardize the security and future of Americans who have worked tirelessly to pay into the system with the expectation of a dignified retirement. And just this week, a group of 175 House Republicans announced a plan to make significant cuts to Social Security that would affect the retirement plans of millions of Americans.
Team, I want to make something clear: Social Security is more than a government program; Social Security is a promise. It's a promise from your government that if you pay your fair share, your government will have your back down the line. When you retire, when disaster strikes, or when you lose a loved one, you should get the help you've been promised — and that you've earned.
Will you join me in defending Social Security? Your voice matters, and your advocacy is essential in urging Congress to prioritize the needs of our citizens over political posturing. Please take a moment to add your name to our petition to demand the preservation of Social Security for years to come → [link removed]

The work to defend Social Security is personal to me. My Oma lived to be almost 109 years old, and Social Security is a huge reason why she was able to live with dignity well into her second century. I'm committed to doing everything I can to ensure Social Security continues its long and successful life.
It's an honor to represent you,
Derek
