Your June Briefing from the Liberal Democrats. | | Let’s use these by-elections to tell Sunak his time’s up! | Since Friday, Liberal Democrats from across the country have been flooding to Mid Bedfordshire to get our by-election campaign underway. Lifelong Conservative voters have told us they can't vote for them again, instead choosing to support the Liberal Democrats.
And in this two-horse race - Labour supporters are backing us too. Daisy Cooper MP spoke with a resident on Thursday who despite traditionally supporting Labour, has been out delivering for us because they know we are the only people who can beat the Conservatives.
Our campaigns have kicked off in Uxbridge & South Ruislip and Selby & Ainsty too. There are thousands of Conservative voters in these places who will never vote Labour and are tired of the chaos caused by their previous Conservative representatives.
We are confident we can take their votes.
This weekend is vital - with lots of campaigning planned in Mid Bedfordshire, we need as many Members and Supporters as possible to come and help. Please sign up to volunteer or donate to our by-election fund today! | | | | | | - By-Elections Update

| | | Windrush Day - 75th Anniversary | Next Thursday (22nd June) is Windrush Day - this year marking the 75th anniversary of the arrival of HMT Empire Windrush.
As Liberal Democrats, we are proud of the outstanding economic, social, and cultural contribution the Windrush Generation has made to the United Kingdom.
This week, Lib Dem Peer Floella Benjamin hosted a lunch for Black business owners across London to mark the anniversary. In January, Baroness Benjamin condemned reports that Suella Braverman was considering scrapping the recommendations which came out of the Lessons Learned Review in the wake of the Windrush Scandal.
You can watch her speech in the House of Lords here. | | Happy Pride Month This month is Pride Month, where we celebrate the LGBT+ community and reflect on the challenges the community has faced in the past, and sadly continues to face to this day.
We Liberal Democrats will always uphold the values of individual and social justice, reject all prejudice and discrimination, and oppose all forms of entrenched privilege and inequality.
LGBT+ Lib Dems will be taking part in London Pride on 1st July - if you want to join them - register here.
Young Liberals have been posting ‘30 Days of Pride’ on their Instagram and Twitter accounts which is worth checking out to learn more about Pride. | | Remembering Elspeth Campbell | It is with the deepest regret that former party leader Menzies Campbell has announced the death of his wife Elspeth.
Tributes have been paid across the party, with Alistair Carmichael MP describing Elspeth as “a loyal friend and great person to have on your side in good times and bad" and Leader of the Scottish Liberal Democrats, Alex Cole-Hamilton, reflecting on how she brought “levity and laughter to every room she entered."
All our thoughts are with Menzies and their family. | |
Ed Davey at the Edinburgh Fringe If you’re planning on going to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this August - there’s an opportunity to see Ed Davey on 12th August as he joins Iain Dale and Jacqui Smith for a live episode of their podcast ‘For the Many’. | | | Work for Us | We’ve got a wide variety of vacancies - both paid and voluntary - currently available. If you’re keen to contribute in whatever capacity suits you best, we’d love to hear from you!
We're particularly keen to hear from applicants for the Federal Committee roles we currently have advertised. These important roles offer a fantstic opportunity to get closer to the inner workings of the party. | | | | | With best wishes, Liberal Democrats
| | | | Will you help us win John? We have a fantastic chance to send a clear message to Rishi Sunak and the Conservatives in these by-elections.
But we need your help. | | |
