The Global Burden of Stillbirths

In 2021, 1.9 million stillbirths occurred globally. Millions of women live with depression related to stillbirths. Studies show stigmatization, rejection, or abuse of mothers of a stillborn in certain situations. Grief, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress have also been shown to affect the entire family. The Maternal Health Initiative explores the global burden of stillbirths, and offers solutions, in their new report.
