Raise the Wage & Socialist Soccer!

Clinic Defense!

This Saturday June 17, 9am

Lee Minto Planned Parenthood Center

2001 E. Madison Street

In honor of Pride Month, please bring your supportive LGBTQIA+ regalia, signs, and other displays of support for gender affirming healthcare and LGBTQIA+ care!

Help counter the anti-abortion protestors that regularly stand outside this clinic. Show the clinic staff, patients and community that the anti-abortionists do not represent the majority viewpoint on reproductive justice. We will use this Mother’s Day weekend to show support for those who choose to be Mothers and those that do not! Parent by choice, not by chance!

Where are we meeting? – We are defending the Lee Minto Planned Parenthood Center at 2001 E. Madison Street, Seattle. Meet at the bus stop outside the clinic.

🔥Would you like to transfer $45 million EVERY YEAR from some of the most rapacious corporations to the most exploited workers in Renton?🔥

Come join us for a big signature push this weekend to qualify our $19/hr minimum wage initiative for the ballot!  This would be a huge win for the working class and the socialist movement, but we're approaching our deadline, and we are still short on the number of signatures we need.

If we can get Raise the Wage Renton on the ballot, we have a high likelihood of winning.

But we are certain to lose if we don’t get on the ballot -
sign up today to help gather the signatures to get on the ballot! We have a fighting chance if you sign up for a shift!

The UW Workers Win!

Strike Gets the Goods!

For over a week, 2,400 UAW 4121 Postdocs and Research Scientists/Engineers struck and engaged in civil disobedience for fair contracts at the University of Washington. Throughout the contract bargaining process, UW engaged in draconian union-busting tactics. What's more it paid many of its workers 30 percent below the national average! All while inflation and rent have skyrocketed.

UW workers fought for:

  1. Support for an inclusive workforce: Postdocs and Research Scientists and Engineers deserve fair agreements that include better support for parents and caregivers; and the same harassment prevention program for RSEs that is available for Postdocs and student employees.

  2. Play by the rules: UW has committed multiple unfair labor practices and has been trying to evade the law establishing fair wages for salaried workers in Washington state. It’s time to bargain in good faith and reach fair agreements.

  3. Fair Compensation: Many UW workers are struggling to make ends meet. According to UW's own study, research scientists and engineers are the furthest behind market wages of any professional staff. Postdocs are also behind as well with the University attempting to weasel its way out Washington's minimum salary laws.

UW RESEARCH SCIENTISTS AND POSTDOCS BOTH GOT THEIR TENTATIVE AGREEMENTS

Research Scientists got:

  • raise salary floor of all 5 categories by 28% over 3 years
  • 12.5% across-the-board raises over 3 years
  • 45-day layoff notice
  • peer developed and led sexual harassment prevention program, designed to keep workers safe, not shield the bosses from liability

And postdocs got their salary floor moved above the WA state overtime exemption threshold ($65k) and will keep up with the changing threshold in 2024 ($68k)
