What is Nakhchivan? The highly secretive republic, which sits between Turkey, Iran, Armenia, is politically part of Azerbaijan, but is physically completely detached from the country. 

Vasif Talibov ruled the Azeri exclave for 27 years until he abruptly resigned in December 2022 amid a political crackdown by the central government in Baku.
