John,

Scientists have sounded the alarm: One million species are on track to vanish forever if we don't take action now to save them.

We’re already losing a species every day. With each extinction, the natural systems we all depend on — including pollination, water purification, and carbon sequestration — are faltering.

Now more than ever, we need Congress to take bold action by passing the Extinction Prevention Act. [link removed]

This legislation would work in tandem with the Endangered Species Act, which for 50 years has prevented extinction for 99% of the animals and plants under its care. Due to decades of underfunding, imperiled species are falling through the cracks — and the Extinction Prevention Act would help remedy this.

It would provide $20 million per year to pay for the urgently needed conservation of four groups of species at greatest risk of extinction: freshwater mussels, desert fish, Hawaiian plants and North American butterflies.

Extinction isn’t inevitable: It’s a political choice. So it's up to us to take restorative action, and there's no time to waste.

Tell your members of Congress to support the Extinction Prevention Act to provide crucial funding for our most critically endangered species. [link removed]
