Hi John
We love having any opportunity to bring our supporters and friends together, and so we are thrilled to announce a jam-packed line-up of events over the coming year!
From glittering gala balls and thrilling artistic performances to family-friendly activities and captivating debates, we think there’s something for everyone – and with a mix of both in-person and virtual events, we hope you can join us no matter where you are in the world! |
The Elephant And The Dame |
17 October 2023 Virtual Event |
We are excited to announce that tickets are now on sale for The Elephant And The Dame!
Join Born Free to remember Pole Pole the young elephant – our charity’s original inspiration, and celebrate our beloved Co-Founder Virginia McKenna – awarded a Damehood in this year’s New Year Honours, for her devotion to wild animals.
Hosted by Virginia’s son, our Executive President Will Travers OBE, the unique online event will include films, poignant memories of Born Free's journey, special guests and the latest about Born Free’s work in support of elephants. Book your ticket now to celebrate Virginia, pay tribute to Pole Pole and raise vital funds for elephants. Thank you for sharing our vision of a kinder, better future!
Tickets: £40 |
Last year's Walk on the Wild Side was a smash, with hundreds of you raising funds for lions. This year, we’re making it bigger and better by prowling for lions on World Lion Day (10 August) AND ambling for elephants on World Elephant Day (12 August)! And this year, there will be commemorative medals for everyone who raises a minimum of £100 for Born Free. So, will you be joining Team Lion, or Team Elephant? |

If you were inspired by the excitement, elation and accomplishment shown by more than 48,000 finishers at the 2023 TCS London Marathon, now’s your chance to be involved at the world-famous marathon in 2024!
If you secure a ballot place you can use it to support Born Free, or we have a limited number of places available in our Run Wild team. |

7 September, 2023 London & Online |
The exclusive inaugural event for our pride of Born Free Champions, hosted by Will Travers OBE with Born Free’s Head of Policy Dr Mark Jones, and colleagues from our Shamwari Big Cat Sanctuary in South Africa. The event will be available to join virtually as well as in person. |

29 November, 2023 Royal Geographical Society, London |
Following the impact of last year’s ‘Beyond Trophy Hunting’ discussion, this year we will be going ‘Beyond Zoos’. Our expert guests will explore whether our relationship with the natural world, viewed through the lens of the zoo experience, is over and, if so, what might replace it. Can we deliver greater support for conservation, biodiversity, ecosystem protection, animal welfare, public education and effective research by looking ‘beyond zoos’? |

Footsteps to Freedom Ball |
21 March, 2024 Royal Lancaster Hotel, London |
Save the date! You can join Born Free, our Patrons and friends for a fabulous evening of fine food and wine, dancing and entertainment on 21 March 2024. Following the roaring success of our Mane Event last year, we can’t wait to bring everyone together in person again, for our Black Tie Gala Ball – honouring Born Free’s 40th anniversary and all that we have achieved for wild animals, which we couldn’t have done without your support. |
