Dear Ward 8 Residents,

We are just a few weeks from summer when the number of violent crimes historically rises east of the Anacostia River.

I have collaborated with dozens of community partners to  launch my summer initiative, "40 Days of Increased Peace." This summer initiative is a call-to-arms approach to reduce the violence in the community and to promote unity and public safety by and within the Ward 8 community.

The initiative will be a resource hub for events and activities, hosting a robust online calendar ranging from sports, arts, job training, movie nights, academic camps, and much more.

We invite you to join us this Saturday, June 17th, at the William O. Lockridge Baseball Field on the corner of Wheeler Road SE & Mississippi Ave SE (Oxon Run Park) for a Unity Kickball Game & Father's Day Celebration. We will launch this summer's initiative to recognize and uplift our community's fathers and father figures.

My vision for Ward 8 is to see communities where our people are working together to collaborate on resources for the betterment of all residents.

With that said, I encourage you to come out for this family-friendly event. Join us for the kickball game and stay for the Father's Day festivities.

Regards,

Trayon White, Sr.
