Dear John,
Laws that protect farmed animals face a critical challenge in Congress, and we must act now!

After the recent Supreme Court decision to uphold California's Prop 12, the meat industry has chosen to take the fight to Congress.
The Ending Agricultural Trade Suppression (EATS) Act is a dangerous piece of legislation. Its goal is to wipe out state laws that ban the sale of eggs or meat from facilities that engage in cruel intensive confinement.
The legislation would wipe out years of hard-fought progress, leaving animals to languish in cages and crates.

The legislation prohibits states from passing some of the most basic protections for farmed animals. It would reverse laws that protect animals in puppy mills, the wildlife trade, and cosmetic testing.
The EATS Act would also prevent future reforms to protect farmed animals.
We can stop this legislation, but we need to act fast. Take action today to urge members of Congress to oppose the EATS Act and maintain basic protections for animals.
