Hey Friend,
👋I’m Karen and I’m a DACA recipient. 11 years ago today, immigrant youth won the years long fight to win access to work permits & protections from deportations. The DACA program opened many doors for me & hundreds of thousands of other young immigrants like me, but we’ve always known that our communities need a permanent solution.
This week as I reflect on the past 11 years of my life, I’ve been thinking about how different things could have been if we all got citizenship instead of DACA. For me, I would have been able to provide care to my grandmother when she was first diagnosed with Alzheimers.
How would your life be different if you had citizenship the last 11 years? ✊

If you’re not super into Tik Tok but still want to take action today, can you make a donation to United We Dream’s DACA Renewal Fund? Current DACA recipients like me still need to renew our permits every 2 years for $495, which is a huge expense!
Donate to DACA Renewals!
(UWD will reopen applications for these funds as soon as we fundraise for 200 application fees)
Even though DACA changed my life, the next generation of undocumented youth don’t even have the option to apply to DACA anymore because of the right wing attacks on the program the last few years. 🗣️President Biden and Congress MUST deliver citizenship to our communities!
🧡Thanks for taking action,
Karen and the rest of the UWD Team
