Friend, 11 years ago today, immigrant youth won Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (or DACA), a policy that has allowed hundreds of thousands of young immigrants to build their lives, pursue their dreams, and contribute to their communities in the United States.
But let's be clear — while we celebrate the anniversary of DACA, we also recognize that DACA is not enough. Without a permanent legislative solution, immigrant youth and their loved ones are living each day in limbo, at the mercy of shifting political tides and court rulings.
So, today, as the House reintroduces the Dream and Promise Act, which would offer a clear pathway to citizenship for immigrant youth, we are giving this fight everything we’ve got, and we need your help, friend.
Will you consider donating $11 in honor of 11 years of DACA and to help us push Congress to act after years of broken promises? Your donation will directly support the National Immigrant Law Center's ongoing efforts to advocate for a pathway to citizenship for immigrant youth. We have been in this fight for over a decade, and our advocacy efforts will not end until we win.
To further emphasize the impact of your donation, here are a few words from DACA recipients on what DACA and this ongoing fight means to them:
- "I don't know how not to be an American, and DACA has given me a taste of truly belonging in this country."
- "...The homes that we’ve created here could be upended because of a politicized court ruling or politicians playing a game with our futures.”
- “I am lucky to have always known what my passion is, and DACA allowed me the opportunity to pursue it.”
These powerful words inspire us to continue to fight for the dreams and futures of immigrant youth in this country, and by supporting NILC today, you are a critical part of that fight.
Please donate $11 in honor of 11 years of DACA because we can’t wait one more year for Congress to pass permanent protections >>>
Together, we can make a difference and ensure that immigrant youth can live and thrive in the country that is their home.
In solidarity,
Kica Matos
