John, here’s an update on the situation in Congress.
The recent battle over the debt ceiling was tough, but Democrats were able to avert a disastrous default that would have crippled the finances of Ohio families.
Republicans openly boasted about taking the American economy hostage, undermining good-faith negotiations to avoid a global economic meltdown. Democrats refused to succumb to partisan politics and hammered out a deal that ensured the U.S. government would pay its bills on time as it always has.
This is a big victory for the American people. The debt ceiling deal saved 7,500 jobs right here in OH-11, protected millions nationwide from losing healthcare access, and prevented our veterans from losing their disability benefits. But, John, we can’t get complacent.
This dramatic episode has proven what we already knew, that Republicans have no limit to how low they will go to cause chaos and harm to America in the name of playing political games. They can’t be trusted in power, and we need to take back the House from them so their games don’t get in the way of delivering for the American people.
