The Week in Review

Happy Friday!

I hope you had a wonderful week. I am grateful to serve you all in the 118th Congress. Read below to see what I’ve been working on this week.

DOJ Integrity is Gone After Second Trump Arraignment

America is witnessing the fall of a constitutional republic with the second indictment and arraignment of a former president of the United States and the leading 2024 presidential candidate. President Trump has been a victim of political persecution ever since descending his escalator at Trump Tower in 2015.

In an un-American move, the Biden Administration weaponized the nation’s federal law enforcement apparatus to obliterate their top political competitor. Biden’s DOJ continues to charge the former president with bogus crimes while turning a blind eye to President Biden’s mishandling of classified documents and international bribery schemes while serving as our vice president. The DOJ’s integrity is gone after President Trump’s arraignment this week.

I look forward to holding the Biden DOJ accountable for its actions whether it be by defunding them during the appropriations process, executing the Holman Rule to remove and defund corrupt officials, or conducting more oversight on its baseless prosecutions.

I will continue to stand with President Trump and ensure that our nation’s laws are applied equally to all citizens.

Investigating Joe and Hunter Biden’s Corruption

I finally had the opportunity to review the FBI’s FD-1023 form dated June 30, 2020, after the FBI initially told Congress that the form did not exist and then moved to say that Congress was not authorized to examine it.

While I cannot go into complete detail about the form’s content, I can say that the material found in there better assists the House Oversight & Accountability Committee’s investigation into the Biden Family's international bribery schemes.

We found financial transactions that likely show Joe and Hunter Biden each accepted at least $5 million from a foreign national in a bribery scheme. Additionally, we found new findings in the document that will be further investigated.

I feel confident about the form’s findings as the source behind the claims is a very credible informant who has worked for the FBI for about a decade under multiple presidential administrations. We will continue to conduct our depositions and seek out more material from the FBI on these transactions.

We will leave no stone unturned and ensure that justice is served to the Biden Family.

Protecting Senior Citizens
and Limiting Government Overreach

I was honored to receive the Guardian of Seniors’ Rights Award from the 60 Plus Association. This award is presented to Members of Congress who have demonstrated a commitment to eliminating the death tax, fighting to protect Social Security and Medicare, and making healthcare costs more affordable. America’s seniors deserve the best and I will continue to make their priorities heard in Congress.

I was humbled to accept the Champion of Limited Government award from the Institute for Legislative Analysis. This award is granted to Members of Congress who vote for legislation that shrinks our federal government and limits its authority. The federal government has become too large and is abusing its constitutional power. I will continue to advocate for limited government while serving in Congress.

House Oversight & Accountability Committee Activity

The House Oversight & Accountability Committee held a hearing titled “Death by a Thousand Regulations: The Biden Administration’s Campaign to Bury America in Red Tape.”

My colleagues and I examined how the Biden Administration’s invasive and aggressive regulatory policies are decimating the American economy and making life difficult for all Americans.

Businesses are already struggling from the Biden Administration’s record inflation and weakened American dollar and cannot afford to be hindered by their overreaching regulatory policies.

During this hearing, we amplified our concerns over the Biden Administration’s inept regulatory approach and discussed mechanisms to get us back on track.

House Judiciary Committee Activity

As the Chairman of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime and Federal Government Surveillance, I held a hearing on organized retail theft and its impact on public safety. Due to the Democrats’ soft-on-crime policies, shoplifting in America’s stores has surged. Instead of Democrat policies prosecuting these criminals, their policies coddle them. CVS experiences retail theft every 3 minutes while Walmart loses at least $3 billion annually from these crimes.

Congress must make America safe again and ensure law and order are existent.

Proposing an Amendment to Keep Regular Regulators in Check

I introduced an amendment to the REINS Act that would require Congress to approve all regulations that are expected to make a $50 million or more impact on the American economy.

The regulatory bureaucracy today has gone rogue and requires intervention.

Check out my remarks advocating for my amendment on the House Floor by clicking the image below.

Honoring National Flag Day
and the U.S. Army’s Birthday

June 14 marked National Flag Day as well as the birth date of the United States Army. Our nation's beautiful flag was officially adopted in 1777 while our Army was founded two years earlier in 1775.
