Reading from the transcript of Trump’s remarks, Bash states, “He says point-blank on tape, ‘As president, I could have declassified it ... now I can’t,’” and “He says in his own words. It’s on tape as part of this indictment that he did not declassify the material. Therefore, it is classified.”
In response, Jordan states “Dana, saying he could have is not the same as saying he didn’t,’’
“He said now I can’t,” Bash replied. From there it devolved into one of the most convoluted exercises of mental gymnastics that we have seen from Jordan to date, with him stating:
“Now he can’t, right, because he is not President now. But when he was President, he did declassify it,” Jordan said. “Which means what he was holding was classified,” Bash responded. “Not if he declassified it when he was President of the United States, for goodness sake,” Jordan said in reply.
With Jim Jordan in charge of the House Judiciary Committee we know that this vital committee charged with administering justice within federal courts will instead be used at every turn for shielding Donald Trump from facing the consequences of his actions. We cannot allow Jordan to weaponize this committee to go after Biden and other Democrats.
Funding from the extreme right for Jim Jordan is surging right now as the GOP’s large dollar mega donors are coming to the collective realization that Jordan could very well be the only thing standing between Trump and a jail sentence. Can we count on you to chip in $25 or whatever you can spare to help our campaign keep up with the torrent of dark money being pumped into this race?
