| We are doing everything we can to sustain our powerful work in the courts, in Congress, and with the Biden administration — including making cuts to travel, reducing our office footprint, and slowing new hiring. |
| And our community isn’t any less engaged — in fact, Earthjustice supporters are taking a record number of actions and spending more time than ever learning about the legal battles that will determine what our future looks like on this planet. But in a tumultuous economy, many of our supporters who care deeply about this work have cut back on contributions. |

| This economic turmoil comes at a challenging time for our planet. |
| The conservative majority in the Supreme Court recently stripped protections from over half of the 118 million acres of wetlands in the country. This decision takes the side of polluters, puts our clean water resources at risk, and poses an existential threat to other bedrock environmental laws. |
| The requirement of “exceedingly clear language” in the ruling opens the floodgates to challenges to other essential environmental laws — the very laws that Earthjustice uses to protect our planet in court. |
| And despite desperate warnings from the world’s top scientists that we must cut global emissions in half by 2030 to avoid the worst possible harms of the climate crisis, staggeringly huge fossil fuel projects continue to get the greenlight. |
| Our public lands are still highly vulnerable to exploitation by the oil and gas industry — a reality that was made all too clear by the Biden administration’s approval of Alaska’s Willow Project, which has the potential to release 260 million metric tons of greenhouse gases into our atmosphere. We are suing to stop the Willow Project. |
| Friend, I want you to know that Earthjustice is using every legal tool available to fight back.
