Dear friend, Ahmed* (*real name withheld) has always felt a strong connection to nature. He wanted to work closely with plants and animals, but he didn’t have the resources to pursue his dream. Then he heard about Mercy Corps’ beekeeping training from neighbors in his Northeast Syria community. He received beehives, equipment, and support to start beekeeping and honey production. Ahmed’s small business helps him supplement his teaching income and support his wife and three young children. Ahead of Father’s Day, we’re taking a moment to appreciate fathers of all kinds who support their families and communities to build a brighter future for everyone. Mercy Corps’ Livelihoods program has reached more than 53,000 individuals in Syria with food and other urgent aid, and helped strengthen long-term food security through increased crop and livestock production. With Mercy Corps’ support, Ahmed expanded his beekeeping business from three beehives to 30 — all while pursuing his passion for nature.
Ahmed gives a taste of homemade honey to his daughter.
Thank you for being a vital part of this important work, The Mercy Corps team |
